Week Themes
Laura Ingalls Wilder Week
- JUNE 4 - JUNE 8 (
= FULL- Registration Closed)
Learn what life was like for Laura Ingalls. Visit the grist mill at Wild Cat Den State Park and the Buffalo Farm in Buffalo IA. Experience how she lived by spending time in an 1830’s cabin and a one-room schoolhouse. Enjoy making crafts, take hikes and much more.
Nature Week
- JUNE 11 - JUNE 15
This is one week where you can actually camp out under the stars for one night! Enjoy lots of nature crafts, hikes; learn about the animals that live at the Park. Plus take a trip to the Wapsi Environmental Education Center.
Wild West Week
- JUNE 18 - JUNE 22 (

Spend a week doing what the cowboys and cowgirls did. We will visit the buffalo at Cody Homestead and tour the Buffalo Bill Museum in LeClaire, Iowa. Take a pony ride. Enjoy many fun crafts, make rope, games, plus much more!
Ecology Week
- JUNE 25 - JUNE 29
Learn about the land, the water, and wildlife. Take a fun and educational field trip to the Maquoketa Caves. Learn about nature and recycling crafts, plant and wildlife identification, and many more activities involving recycling and our role with ecology.
Native American Week
- JULY 9 - JULY 13(
= FULL- Registration Closed)
Visit a museum to learn how the Indians lived, discover Indian sign language, make an Indian drum and a dream catcher, plus many other crafts. Learn about the Native Americans in the area. Take a canoe ride at West Lake Park (life jackets provided)!
Rivers, Lakes & Streams
- JULY 16 - JULY 20 (
= FULL- Registration Closed)
Learn about the water ways around us. Take a fun and education trip to Nahant Marsh. Learn to canoe and kayak, fish at Pride Lake (life jackets provided). Fun time on the water.
Frontier Week
- JULY 23 - JULY 27 (
= FULL- Registration Closed)
Enjoy a week doing what the Pioneer's did in the 1800’s. Enjoy many activities such as a wagon ride, rope making, frontier cooking, pioneer games and much more. This week we will visit the Niabi Zoo and learn about animals.
Mark Twain Week
- JULY 30 - AUGUST 3
Enjoy paddleboating at West Lake Park and a tour at Lock & Dam15 on the Mississippi. Hike trails and do many crafts and activities! Go fishing at Scott County Park Pride Lake. Explore and learn what life was like for Mark Twain.
